Our mission:
Inspiring Conservation of Our Marine Environment
Your support fuels all that we do at the Seattle Aquarium, from the habitats within the iconic Piers 59 and 60, where we’ve highlighted the unique animals of the Salish Sea for decades, to our stunning new Ocean Pavilion, featuring the tropical life of the Coral Triangle. Your generosity helps your Aquarium grow, educate and inspire.
Piers 59 and 60
Pier 59: The building where it all began! Pier 59, a designated City of Seattle landmark and testament to the central waterfront’s rich and varied history, is home to some of our most popular habitats and experiences. Here, guests can view a snapshot of the ocean in the 120,000-gallon Window on Washington Waters habitat and be up close and personal with creatures that dwell in the tide pools of Washington's coast at Life on the Edge.
Pier 60: No trip to the Seattle Aquarium would be complete without a visit to Pier 60, located just north of Pier 59 and accessible via a covered walkway. Pier 60 houses some of our most beloved habitats, including Marine Mammals, Birds & Shores and the Underwater Dome. If you’re looking for fun-loving seals and otters or a 360-degree view of familiar local fish, you’re in the right place!
The Ocean Pavilion
In the Ocean Pavilion, guests step out of the Pacific Northwest and into a warm, bright and vibrant underwater world teeming with life. Join us to discover the wonders of a reef ecosystem in the Coral Triangle—a region in the Indo-Pacific so rich in biodiversity that it’s been called “the Amazon of the ocean!” You’ll come face to face with over 5,000 animals and plants: sharks, rays, bowmouth guitarfish, schooling fish, mangroves, more than 40 species of coral and so much more.
This world-class space is unlike any other setting in North America. It’s helping millions of Aquarium guests discover how each of us has an important role in restoring ocean health. Creating new public space and increasing accessibility between Pike Place Market and Waterfront Park by connecting to the Overlook Walk. Supporting our growing work to restore healthy populations of endangered marine species. And modeling next-generation, sustainable urban design.
